Constantia wine estates at this year’s Constantia Fresh
For the eight consecutive year Constantia Fresh will take place on the expansive lawns of Buitenverwachting Wine Estate.
Taking place on 25 February 2017 over 200 wines will be available for you to swirl, sip and savour, while you nibble on gourmet canapés prepared by some of Constantia’s most talented chefs, among them our executive Chef Peter Tempelhoff who will be cooking: yellowtail braai, cauliflower cous cous, romesco.
There will be a plethora of wines to taste from all over the Cape Winelands, which includes an incredible showcase of Constantia Wines.

Situated on the east-facing slopes of the magnificent Constantiaberg this farm originally formed part of the Constantia Estate, which was founded by Simon van der Stel, the first Governor of the new Dutch colony at the tip of Africa.
Groot Constantia is the oldest wine estate in South Africa. In 1685, during an annual visit to the Cape, Hendrik Adriaan van Rheede tot Drakenstein granted the grounds of Groot Constantia to Simon van der Stel the VOC Governor of the Cape of Good Hope.
The 146 Hectare wine estate originally formed part of the Constantia farm. While Klein Constantia make a full range of wines, they’re famous for dessert wine, Vin de Constance. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was one of the world's great sweet wines.
Eagles' Nest Wines
The farm’s origins can be traced back to 1836 when it was used as a refreshment station between the area now known as Wynberg in the east, and the harbour of Hout Bay in the west. In order to make this journey, travellers had to cross the mountain pass, now known as Constantia Neck.
Constantia Glen has a unique position cradled between the Constantiaberg and Table Mountain (World Heritage Site) ranges, with predominantly north-east facing slopes. Making for both exceptional wines as well as exceptional views.
Steenberg dates back to 1682, and offers a world-class destination comprised of restaurants, a winery as well as a spa.
Beau Constantia is a boutique wine farm situated at the top of Constantia Nek overlooking False Bay. Vines are planted to an elevation of 350 metres above sea-level on some of the steepest agricultural slopes in the Cape.
This historic estate not only makes top-drawer wine, but also hosts a bike park, wine shop and lauded restaurant.
